OzFest is a great time for students to celebrate their last day of classes. We work hard for weeks on end, dealing with different classes and their demands, extracurricular activities and just life in general. Therefore, this is a time to let loose and have fun with friends before the dreaded finals week, when everyone’s favorite spot becomes the library and people are stressed about the exams they have to take.
The day filled with activities is a nice touch because students have something to do to take their minds off finals. This applies to the students who are lucky enough to get out of class at a great time (e.g., 12:25 p.m., 1:35 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. ) because they get to enjoy the afternoon festivities either completely or a little as the activities typically last from noon to 4:00 p.m. Whereas students who are in class that entire time or have later classes that start at 3 or 4 p.m. miss out on this opportunity to do the different activities offered. Despite this slight unfairness, they all have the chance to see a celebrity performer in the evening.
This performance has to be someone who can get the crowd loud, hype and excited. We are here to celebrate the end of the semester and someone who could do it needs to be the headliner for the show. No one wants to be sad in the arena, doing nothing but swaying to sad songs or listening to an underrated performer that only 10 people know about. This is no hate to people who like sad songs or underrated artists because I like them too, but in order to get a majority of people to have a good time, they need to hear songs they know by artists that they like. This way they are able to sing along and dance with friends and possibly even make friends.
At the end of the day the point is to make memories, have fun and celebrate yourself, regardless of who is there. However, if I had to choose some great headliners, it would be the following: Megan thee Stallion, Flo Milli, Doechii, GloRilla, Monaleo, SZA, Sabrina Carpenter, Kehlani, FLO, Kendrick Lamar, A Boogie, Ro$ama, Jacquees, JID, Brent Fiyaz, SIK K and Tyler the Creator. There is no order to this, just some people I like and think would be entertaining to see.
If you do not like my choices, fight with your mama not me. <3
