“Tomodachi Life” fans everywhere were ecstatic when Nintendo announced that a sequel will be coming to the Nintendo Switch next year.
On March 26, Nintendo announced they would be doing another Nintendo Direct livestream the next day. As is standard with Nintendo Directs, people did not expect much. While Nintendo Direct live streams have had a lot of criticism recently, these live events introduce gamers to intriguing foreign titles.
Nintendo Executive Shinya Takahashi started the stream on March 27 by announcing remakes of Dragon Quest I and II. The next big announcement was a new installment into the iconic Metroid series, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Another notable announcement was for Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
One of the highlights for many viewers was the announcement of a new Rhythm Heaven game. Fans of the widely popular Rhythm game series were delighted to hear a new installment would be brought to the Nintendo Switch in 2026.
However, the final game announced was the most shocking of all. After over 10 years, the iconic Tomodachi Life series is finally seeing a sequel with Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. Fans all over the internet rejoiced in finally getting a sequel to their favorite game after years of hopeful waiting.
Tomodachi Life was released in 2013 to great success. The game allowed you to create Miis, Nintendo’s iconic characters, and place them on an island where they would live and interact together. With fun gameplay and wacky interactions between your Miis, the game can be certified as a cult classic for gamers everywhere.
The game’s graphics already seem to be an improvement over its predecessor. It also looks like you will be able to have more customization with your Miis than in the previous games, with new hairstyles and makeup being available for players to enjoy.
The game will come to the Nintendo Switch in 2026.
