Men lack knowledge on women’s bodies

The control of women’s bodies and overall reproductive health has been a continuous topic of political conversation. However, this fact is extremely contradictory and disgusting as this traction does not acknowledge that women’s bodies are severely understudied and stigmatized in our society. Not only did our education system fail to teach women about the entirety of their anatomy and physiology but they also embodied the stereotypes where men, who are undereducated in this topic, create laws that restrict us from the exploration of our bodies.

This is perfectly represented by the @Roevbros tiktok account, a game show to quiz men about their knowledge of women’s bodies. The woman in charge, sporting a purple pantsuit, stands around different parts of various cities asking random men important questions about women’s menstrual cycles, vaginal anatomy and overall sexual pleasures.

Throughout these videos, it has been a common trend for these questions to be answered incorrectly. It is important to note that the woman ends each conversation by asking the men if they are registered to vote; to which the majority of them reply ‘yes’ with a wide grin. How is it possible for men who are not fully educated about women’s bodies to vote on policies that police them?

In the most recent episode of “Roe v. Bros”, featured during the “March of Life” in Washington DC, the woman asks why there are different tampon sizes to which one man responds “different sized pu**ies.” To simply understand the bodies that women walk in daily is not a difficult task. Allowing yourself to be ignorant rather than learning about our bodily functions is choosing power dynamics over women. There is nothing worse than living in an ever-evolving society and being comfortable with being complacent.

Please understand that the lives of women depend on how clearly you understand the works of our bodies. The issues you view as small are changing our worlds each and everyday.
