The west campus, with its beautiful view of the lake, the sunset and the BBQ line at Pathfinder, but with every good thing needs its bad. These past couple of weeks the bad was more prominent than the good, with the rain from the hurricane that would soak you to your bones and the wind that would blow you off your feet, this was thought to be the worst, until the water line broke. On Oct. 2 at 8:36 p.m., when everyone had taken their showers and filled up their water bottles, an email was sent out. It stated that a water pipe had broken and the water may be contaminated, which is not something you want to hear after you have just brushed your teeth. So, everyone decided to distract themselves by doing some work or watching some TV, but with the increase in usage, another problem arose– the Wi-Fi went out, leaving people with no way to do their work or entertain themselves.
These incidents lining up seem to be an occurrence of bad luck for west campus. This has given west campus a sort of bad view and with a lot of freshmen living on the West campus, it could taint their view of how Oswego is. It gives the campus, or the west campus, a bad look for newer students. So, is the campus falling apart? If you line up all these situations, the water pipe, the Wi-Fi, Brightspace being down and the infrastructure, then it looks like the campus is falling apart. But, it is just a series of unfortunate events that all happened at the same time in some unlucky incident. I, being a freshman, do not believe that this campus is falling apart, I think that some bad luck came along at the start of the semester.
