Beyoncé deserves some sense of normality

Beyoncé being the celebrity for celebrities is extremely sad! I can not imagine a life where I do not have downtime because not only do normal people get excited to see me, but other celebrities and influencers do too. A prime example would be the 2024 Grammy Awards, where she basically had an impromptu meet and greet with other attendees. Different celebrities ranging from Victoria Monét, Dua Lipa, Kacey Musgraves to Robert Glasper, his son Riley, Trevor Noah and even DDG met and took a picture with Beyoncé.

According to Ice Spice, “it was pretty much a Beyoncé meet-and-greet at the Grammys… There was a long line.” I understand why people wanted to line up and meet her because of what she has done for the music industry. I would love to meet her too, but I think I would have a similar approach as SZA did and respect her space. For those of you who do not know, in an interview done by People, SZA explained how she was scared and could not speak to Beyoncé unless she wanted to speak with her because she did not want to bother her. Essentially, she assessed the situation and determined that she should not add to the line of people who were waiting to meet her. Which is understandable because Beyoncé was not there as a nominee, she was technically there to support her husband, Jay-Z, who was receiving the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award. Therefore,  she was probably not expecting something like that to happen. Yet it did and she still engaged in small talk and pictures that people were lining up to take with her.

On the surface, it may not seem like a big deal because she is a celebrity and that is part of what celebrities normally do. They tend to meet tons of people who are excited to meet them, are eager to talk to them and to take a photo with them. However, this situation is different because these are other celebrities who most likely understand the pressure of being bum rushed by people asking to talk and take a picture. So, you should expect them to have a bit more decorum and not form a long line to meet her. However, the rules do not apply to Beyoncé because it seems other celebrities hold her on a higher pedestal which makes her, for lack of a better term, an ultimate celebrity.

This must be exhausting because when does she have free time? When will she have Beyoncé time where she can enjoy the simple pleasures of life such as going to the grocery store or randomly walking through a Walmart or Target? Or when will she be able to attend an event without people forming a line just to meet her? Yes, it is flattering, but it would be nice to go to an event without causing such a spectacle.  People should think about this before approaching because although you are excited, she is still a person and everyone should have a time where they can just relax and enjoy the show or whatever they are doing.
