I cannot believe we are already a third of the way through the fall semester. It feels like time is flying by. As the semester has progressed, I have gotten into a good routine, managing the responsibilities given to me pretty well. So far, there has not been anything super overwhelming; I feel like I have been able to stay on top of the things being thrown at me.
Watching the staff here at The Oswegonian work so well together to produce a paper every week has made me very happy. We were very close as a staff last year and I wanted to be able to create something similar in order to create a fun/hardworking environment. All of our new staff members have filled in their roles very well. They soaked up all of the information given to them and have been very efficient.
Something else that has been on my mind recently is how much I appreciate fall. Over the summer, the air was absolutely boiling. While I was abroad, temperatures would routinely reach upwards of 95 degrees. Now that we are in autumn, the air is more crisp and there is a much better balance between hot days and cool days. However, the constant changes between hot and cold have made establishing a wardrobe difficult. I do not know whether or not to wear short sleeves and shorts or long sleeves and pants.
When I get up in the morning, it is 50 degrees outside, so I feel like I should be wearing long sleeves, but by the time I get out of class around 11:00 a.m. it is 75 degrees with no cool breeze, so I am sweating and cranking my car’s A/C. While I enjoy the warm weather, I wish it would choose between fall-like weather or summer weather.
I am glad that all of the fall classics are back in full swing. Apple cider, pumpkin donuts and anything with cinnamon are always calling my name during the fall months. Does the fall have the best food lineup? It does include everything that Thanksgiving has to offer. The more I think about it, the more I think that it does. When you think about fall, the food is one of the first things that comes to your mind.
Halloween too; I know it is not a food holiday, but it is a fun one. I miss being a kid and going around the neighborhood with my friends getting tons of candy. While I am fully capable of going to a store and buying a bag of Halloween candy, it does not feel the same.
I am excited to finally break out my cool weather clothes as we head into October. I cannot wait to see what the rest of this semester has in store.
