The Oswego State women’s lacrosse team hosted Utica College on Saturday for a nonconference matchup. The Lakers would fall 11-10 in overtime to the Pioneers. Oswego State player Shae McConnell had four goals in the contest to lead the Lakers on the offensive side of the ball. Oswego State is now 0-3 heading into their next contest which will take place on Tuesday against St. Lawrence University.

• The Lakers got a quick goal from Julia Quirk. A nice set up from Sela Wiley allowed for the Lakers to take the lead for the third time this season.

• Utica College gets back even strength and nets another one to take the lead.
• The Pioneers continue to extend the lead later in the quarter.

• Faceoff won by Oswego State, the Lakers go on offense.
• Utica gets a turnover and heads back to the other end of the field.
• The Pioneers score to end the contest.
• There was controversy with the goal due to too many players being on the wrong side of the field. Oswego State felt that the referees missed this call.

Post-game

• Oswego State showed that they can play with an opponent today. The Lakers were able to come back and tie the game in the late stages of the contest.
• Shae McConnell had four goals and two assists to lead the Lakers in points over the course of the contest.
• Sela Wiley lead the way on the ground with a total of nine ground balls.
• The Lakers have struggled to hold a lead this season. Oswego State was playing from behind for a majority of the game.
• Women’s lacrosse is now 0-3 to kick off the 2022 season.
