Following a battle between No. 1 and No. 2 in the SUNYAC, the Oswego State men’s hockey team fell to No. 3 SUNY Geneseo by a score of 5-3. The Lakers now fall to 11-9-1 (8-3-1 SUNYAC), while the Knights are now 17-3-2 (10-1-2 SUNYAC).
Pre-game
- Despite tying against The College at Brockport, Steven Kozikoski (3-0-1) earned his fifth straight start against SUNY Geneseo
- Aaron Mackay (10-2-1) played in his 13th game of the season against Oswego State
1st Period
- SUNY Geneseo drew first blood with a goal with 15:07 remaining in the opening period, off the stick of Devin Brink. Assists went to Carson Kelley and Dan Bosio. 1-0 Knights.
- The Knights committed the first penalty of the game with 11:48 remaining in the period. Tanner Salsberry got called for interference on Joey Scorpio. SUNY Geneseo killed the penalty unscathed.
- Brink also committed an elbowing call with 5:03 left in the period. SUNY Geneseo also killed that penalty without a goal allowed.
- At 19:00 of the opening period, both Carson Vance (cross-checking) and Conlan Keenan (slashing) were called for two-minute minors. Both teams were sent to 4-on-4 hockey.
- Only 49 seconds later, Carter Allen was called for cross-checking, sending Oswego State to a 4-on-3 penalty kill.

2nd Period
- Oswego State killed all of the penalties it committed within the first period, as did SUNY Geneseo, and both teams returned to even strength early in the second period.
- Tanner Salsberry committed his second penalty of a game with a slash with 12:38 remaining in the period. Oswego State went to the power play for the third time of the game. The penalty was killed despite some close chances.
- The Knights added their second goal with 8:36 remaining in the period, after Cam Russell sniped a shot from the blue line, with assists to Carson Kelley and Salsberry.
- With 4:13 remaining in the period, Devin Brink was called for a two-minute high sticking call, giving the Lakers’ their fourth power play.
- After a one-timer off the stick of Carson Vance with the pass from Anthony Passero, Oswego State pulled within one with 2:17 remaining in the period on the power play.
- With 59.6 left in the middle period, Mac Lewis was given a five-minute major for contact to the head, along with a game misconduct. His night was over.
- END 2: Oswego State killed 59 seconds of the penalty, with the second period ending in a 2-1 score after Carson Vance scored.

3rd Period
- Oswego State killed the remaining 4:01 of the major power play from Mac Lewis. The Lakers continued to trail 2-1 following the kill.
- Joseph Molinaro was called for hooking with 15:33 remaining in the period, sending the Lakers back to the penalty kill.
- On the power play, Matthew Doran took a snipe from the blue line to send the Knights up 3-1 after the power play goal. Assist went to Conlan Keenan. Time of goal was 5:54.
- After streaking up the middle with 8:05 to go, Alex DiCarlo got a pass to Max Novick who tapped it past Mackay to bring the Lakers within one. Oswego State trails 3-2.
- Michael Gillespie got a rebound off the end boards into an empty net past Mackay to tie the game at three with 6:51 remaining in the third period. Assist went to Carson Vance. Oswego State and SUNY Geneseo were tied 3-3.
- At 16:15 of the regulation period, Carson Vance was called for tripping sending the Knights to the power play once again. The Lakers killed the penalty thanks to some strong play from Tanner Spink.
- Cam Russell added his second of the game from the blue line with 1:29 remaining to give the Knights a 4-3 lead. The assists went to Tanner Salsberry and Conlan Keenan.
- Conlan Keenan scored the empty-net goal with 37.5 seconds remaining in the period. The assist went to Andrew Romano.
Post-game
- After the loss, Oswego State now faces Morrisville State on Feb. 14 and 15.
- SUNY Geneseo will take on Buffalo State on Feb. 14 following the win over SUNY Geneseo.
