Laker Gameday Preview: Women’s hockey vs. Nazareth College

The Oswego State women’s hockey team is back in the Marano Campus Center for an afternoon game against Nazareth College. The Lakers are coming off of a 2-1 win over Utica College and the Golden Flyers last game was also a win against Utica College, but by a score of 3-1.

Keys to the Game

Oswego State

Scoring early will be the key to Oswego State getting a win this afternoon. In the past the Lakers have started off the first period struggling offensively. If the team can get off to a strong start in the first period they will have a very good chance of winning.

Nazareth College

Scoring on the power play will be the key to Nazareth College leaving Oswego with a win. The Golden Flyers have been having some recent success on the power play. In order to extend their win streak to three games they will need to have success on the power play.

Players to Watch

Oswego State: Philomena Teggart

Teggart has been one of the Oswego State’s most productive players recently. The junior for the Lakers has scored a goal in Oswego State’s last three games. Being on Oswego State’s top defensive pair, she should get plenty of ice time and offensive opportunities.

Nazareth College: Abbey Luth

The sophomore skater is coming off a quiet game offensively where she did not register a single point. The Golden Flyers leading scorer will need to have a bounce back game in order for her team to have a good shot at winning.

Final Thoughts

Both teams have had good recent success. However, Nazareth College has not lost a game since January 7 and have had since Wednesday to rest up for this game. Oswego State will be playing its third game this week. This should be a very close game, but the Golden Flyers should be the favorites to win this afternoon.
