Laker Gameday Preview: Women’s hockey vs. Morrisville State (Game 2 of 3)
The Oswego State women’s hockey team is set for a Friday night matchup against Morrisville State. The Lakers are coming off of a 2-1 loss against Hamilton College, while the Mustangs recently defeated SUNY Cortland by a score of 2-1.
Keys to the Game
Oswego State
Scoring early will be the key to Oswego State winning tonight. The Lakers last three games have either ended in a tie or a one-goal loss. Scoring early, or at least scoring the first goal, will get the Oswego State home crowd into the game to give the team a positive boost of energy. This will make it a more difficult task for Morrisville State.
Morrisville State
Scoring on the power play will be the key to Morrisville State leaving Oswego with a win. The last time these two teams played each other the Mustangs went on the power play three times, but could not score on any of the extra man advantages. If Morrisville State can accomplish this then this game against Oswego State could result in a win.

Players to Watch
Oswego State: Eryn Stewart
The second leading scorer for Oswego State is coming off of a game where she scored the lone goal against Hamilton College. Stewart also was able to find the back of the net the last time the Lakers played Morrisville State. The combination of Stewart playing alongside freshman skater Megan Teachout will be very difficult for the Mustangs to contain.
Morrisville State: Alana McDonald
McDonald enters tonight having scored two games in a row for Morrisville State. Not only that, but the freshman skater also scored a goal against Oswego State the last time these two teams faced each other. We should expect to see McDonald get plenty of ice time against a team she has already had success offensively against.
Final Thoughts
It looks like this is going to be another close game for Oswego State tonight. Even though the Lakers won their previous game against Morrisville State, the Mustangs should be favored in this game. They have been playing better hockey than the Lakers of late.
