Laker Gameday Preview: Women’s Hockey vs. Hamilton College

The Oswego State women’s hockey team is back in the Marano Campus Center Ice Arena for a Tuesday night matchup against Hamilton College. The Lakers are coming off of a game against SUNY Potsdam that ended in a tie, while the Continentals most recently defeated Utica College 6-0 and have won their last three games in a row.

Keys to the Game

Oswego State

A strong forecheck is going to be the key to the Lakers getting a win tonight. Hamilton College is a high scoring offense, and as a team, it has scored 16 goals in its last four games. In order for the Lakers to contain this offense, they will need to play a disciplined and physical game tonight.

Hamilton College

Scoring early will be the key for Hamilton College to get their fourth win in a row. As the road team, the Continentals have struggled with a sub-.500 record. Scoring early will help the team take control of the game early and possibly leave Oswego with a win.

Players to Watch

Oswego State: Morgan Shines

Shines is coming off a strong performance, where she recorded a goal and an assist against SUNY Potsdam. The freshman forward is the second leading goal-scorer for the Lakers and will need to generate offensive chances against the stout Hamilton College defense.

Hamilton College: Michaela Giuttari

Giuttari had a quiet game offensively against Utica College, where she did not record a single point. As the leading scorer on her team, the senior defender will need to have a bounce back game against Oswego State for her team to have a good chance at winning tonight’s game.

Final Thoughts

Even though Hamilton College is the visiting team, it should be the favorite to win. The Continentals have scored 16 goals in their last four games and do not look like they are slowing down. Tonight’s contest will be a tough task for Oswego State but a good measure to see where it is as a team. If the Lakers can stick to their style of hockey and Rachael Farmer has a strong game in net, then they will give the Continentals a tough time tonight.
