The Oswego State men’s hockey team took on Nazareth College at the Bill Gray’s Regional Ice Plex in Rochester, New York. The Lakers came away with the non-league win by a score of 3-1.
FIRST PERIOD
- With 14:06 left, Mitch Emerson committed the first penalty of the game for either side with a two-minute tripping call. Oswego State killed the penalty.
- END 1: Oswego State and Nazareth College tied at zero. The Golden Flyers led the shot total 9-7.
SECOND PERIOD
- Seventeen seconds into the period, Zander Pryor received a minor penalty for boarding against Tanner Spink, giving the Lakes their first power play opportunity. The penalty was killed.
- Travis Broughman scored his 10th goal of the season off of a Spink rebound. The secondary assist went to Josh Zizek with 14:19 left in the period.
- Emerson went to the box for the second time after a boarding call with 12:51 left in the period.
- Cole Moore scored on the power play at 8:03 to tie the game at one. Casey Kubara had the lone assist.
- Oswego State took the lead again with 7:52 left in the period, after Anthony Passero took a shot and trickled past Michael Tilford. Max Novick and Emerson had the assists.
- Zizek added a goal with 1:20 after a pass right in front from Travis Broughman. The captain had a one-timer over the blocker of Tilford. Spink added the secondary assist.
- END 2: Oswego State leads Nazareth College 3-1. The Lakers trailed on the shot total, though, 18-17.
THIRD PERIOD
- Joseph Molianro got a two-minute minor with 16:16 left in the period goaltender interference. At the same time, Grant Gallo received a two-minute roughing call. It became four-on-four hockey.
- Ryan Bunka went off for a tripping call with 14:32 left in the period, giving Nazareth College a four-on-three power play. That penalty was killed.
- FINAL: Oswego State defeats Nazareth College 3-1 in Rochester.
POST-GAME
- Oswego State (8-7-0, 6-1-0 SUNYAC) is off until Jan. 24 when it returns to league play against SUNY Cortland on the road for its first SUNYAC game since Dec. 7.
- Nazareth College (7-5-2, 4-3-0 UCHC) only has a couple days to recover and will face King’s College on Jan. 17 on the road in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
