End of decade breakdown of best, worst songs of 2010s

The decade is sadly coming to an end. The 2010s had its ups and downs, but always came around. There were many different songs released, some good and some bad. However, what actually makes a song good? Is it the voice, the lyrics or the beat? A song can be good if an artist has lyrics that fans can understand and relate to. Another plus is if an artist has a good tune and performs it well. It all depends on the fans and often what the songwriter puts in the lyrics. More so, what makes a song bad? Is it lacking a strong chorus, beginning, hook, or does it not fit the artist’s voice? How do people determine this? Well, people judge a song by simply listening to it. Music executives have an ear for good songs because that is how they make money.

Now, on to get to the good part. Songs fans found great this decade were: “We Found Love” by Rihanna feat. Calvin Harris, “Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry, “Get Lucky” by Daft Punk feat. Pharrell Williams, “Rolling in The Deep” by Adele, “We Can’t Stop” by Miley Cyrus, “Countdown” by Beyoncé, “Super Bass” by Nicki Minaj feat. Ester Dean, “The Edge of Glory” by Lady Gaga, etc. These songs are part of the top 20 best songs rated by fans from the 2010s. Some found these songs to be annoying while some love them. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Fans have also written a list of bad songs. The bad songs from this decade include: “Friday” by Rebecca Black, “Chinese Food” by Alison Gold, “Miracle Worker” by SuperHeavy, “Acapella” by Karmin, “No” by Meghan Trainor, “All About That Bass” by Meghan Trainor, “Teach Me How to Dougie” by Cali Swag District and “Birthday Cake” by Rihanna feat. Chris Brown. Lots of fans can agree these songs are not good and may even be considered annoying. They were either over-played on the radio or just irritating from the start.

As stated above, the song “Friday” by Rebecca Black is one of the world’s worst from this decade. “Friday” came out in 2011 and was ripped to pieces by fans and music critics. Fans, song critics, record companies and even strangers on the street ridiculed and bullied her on social media about “Friday.” She released a new song recently called “Sweetheart.” People have said that the song and video are confusing. What is the song about exactly? It is called “Sweetheart,” but to fans, it does not seem to be about love at all.

Other than the bad songs, what about the good ones? The song “Edge of Glory” by Lady Gaga was one of the best songs created in the 2010s. Why? Well, “Edge of Glory” also came out in the same year as “Friday” by Rebecca Black, 2011. According to fans, the song is very upbeat and can get stuck in your head. It is a type of song that can be sung along to and will get people up and dancing. Any song by Lady Gaga is catchy and will get listeners tapping, singing and wanting more. If anyone was born before the 2000s, they grew up listening to her music on full blast on their MP3 players. The only change in the 2010s was the move to listening on smartphones. What are your favorites from the 2010s?
