Player Spotlight

OSW: Jean-Marie Padden

Like a majority of the freshman class, Jean-Marie Padden has been a great asset to the Lakers all season. Despite being down 3-0 in the third period, Padden still fought her way through to get the Lakers on the board to avoid the shutout. She now has seven goals on the season, and is now on a three-game goal streak. She leads all freshmen in scoring with 10 points. She will look to continue her goal streak to close out the regular season against SUNY Potsdam

POT: Anna-Rose Bertin

Anna-Rose Bertin and Natalie Wasielewski have been top scorers for the Bears all season. However, Bertin shone during the Friday matchup with a two-goal performance, and is now tied for the team in points. In the past three games where the Bears have scored, Bertin has five points. The senior will be a player to watch in her last regular season game against the Oswego State Lakers.

Prediction

Other than being the women’s hockey team’s final regular season game and final conference matchup before the playoffs, it is also the senior day for the seven seniors that will be graduating at the end of the semester. This bunch includes Olivia Ellis, Mariah Madrigal and Andrea Noss, all of which are strong leaders for the Laker program.

With the players to watch for, and the seniors on this given day, it should be a good matchup once again between the SUNY Potsdam Bears and the Oswego State Lakers, who will try to bring the season series to .500 after the loss yesterday.

This game should be the same intensity the game was fought in yesterday, given the circumstances and the necessary fight-back for the Lakers to gain some momentum before they head to Buffalo State on Feb. 24 for the first round of the Northeast Women’s Hockey League playoffs.

Lakers and Bears tie 2-2.
