Quick Recap: Men’s Ice Hockey @ SUNY Potsdam

Matt Galati’s third goal of the season was the only tally in the first twenty minutes. The Lakers went on the power play early in the game after Bryce Ferrell went off for tripping. Oswego State cashed in their 9th power play marker of the season to go up 1-0 after one period.

Kenny Neil and Shawn Hulshof assisted on the early first period goal. That helper marks Hulshof’s 100th career point in his Laker career.

A flurry of chances midway through the second period helped put the Lakers up 4-0 after two periods of play.

Mitch Emerson tallied his first career goal as a Laker when he put home a bouncing puck in the crease. Joey Davies started the play when he cut to the slot untouched and forced Nate Skidmore to go into desperation mode. Jody Sullivan was given the secondary assist on the second Oswego State goal.

Alex Botten scored shortly after at the 15:08 mark when he took a long stretch pass down the wing from Hulshof. He beat Skidmore easily on a top-corner wrist shot. Kristoffer Brun would grab the secondary assist, his second of the year.

Joey Davies extended the Laker lead to four at the 17:25 mark for his first of the year. His shot snuck by Skidmore somehow, and Emerson tallied his second point of the night with the assist for the Lakers’ third goal of the period.

Stephen Johnson extended the Laker lead even further at 7:40 of the final frame. Botten and Galati connected a cross-ice pass. Johnson was open at the top of the umbrella and scored his third of year at the 7:40 mark for the Lakers’ second power play marker of the game.

Trever Ralph would then relieve Skidmore after he allowed five goals on 22 shots.

The Lakers would add to their 5-0 lead when David Ferreira beat Ralph for the first time tonight.  Cameron Berry and Chris Raguseo tallied the helpers to move to 6-0-0 on the year after beating Potsdam 6-0. Oswego State will now prepare to face SUNY Plattsburgh tomorrow night at 7 p.m. at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena.
