QUICK RECAP: Men’s ice hockey vs SUNY Plattsburgh

The first period wasn’t as physical as a typical playoff hockey game and at the end of 20 minutes of play it was 0-0.

Both teams went to the powerplay, Oswego State didn’t get many good looks on their man advantage. Plattsburgh went up a man at the 19:41 mark and started the second frame on the powerplay and they weren’t able to capitalize on it.

The second period heated up and three goals were put on the board. Plattsburgh opened the scoring at 8:15 of the middle frame. Ross Sloan fed Jesse Neher after JJ Hart and Alex D’Oliveira had some miscommunication defending the 2-on-2.

The freshman Cameron Berry got his first collegiate career after an all out scramble in front. The refs discussed it and decided it was a good goal, that call was met with a plethora of boos from the Cardinal fans.

Oswego State took advantage of Connor Gorman tripping minor to go up 2-1. A Brandon Adams shot was put home by David Ferreira in close. Stephen Johnson was given the secondary assist on the powerplay marker at 14:58.

The final frame was nothing short of spectacular.

Nick Belger tied the game after a beautiful setup from Connor Gorman and Anthony Calabrese. Gorman found Belger on the far side and he beat Zawadzki over the left shoulder on the powerplay at 7:17 of the third.

The Cardinals finally retook the lead after Dillan Fox walked around Sean Federow and beat Zawadzki at 10:09 of the final frame.

Oswego State seemed down and out following the Fox dagger, but Sean Federow came to the rescue. He waited and waited and waited some more, then found Andrew Barton in the slot. He took a shot and Kenny Neil put one past the sprawling Spencer Finney to tie at 15:51 of regulation.

If that wasn’t enough there was overtime, the third time these two met in overtime this season.

With chance after chance for both teams Michael Radisa took a shot from a long ways out and it fluttered past Zawadzki to end the overtime.

The Lakers ended their streak of four straight SUNYAC Final appearances.
