The Oswego State Lakers won Saturday night in dominating fashion as they topped the Castleton State Spartans 8-1 to advance to the final of the Pathfinder Bank Classic, which will happen tomorrow in the Marano Campus Center Ice Arena.
Laker goals were scored by Andrew Barton (2), David Ferreira, Alex Botten, T.J. Sneath, Stephen Johnson and Kenny Neil (2).
The Lakers set a new season high in goals, surpassing five goals they scored against SUNY Morrisville on Nov. 2o.
Oswego showed excellence on special teams, scoring three goals on power plays while holding the Spartans scoreless on all of their one-man advantages.
Adrian Ignagni blocked 28 of 29 shots on the night, allowing one in near the end of the third period.
Oswego will prepare for tomorrow’s matchup against No. 4 Adrian College, who defeated No. 13 Williams College by a score of 4-1 today. The Bulldogs were the team that eliminated the Lakers in last year’s NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals, by a score of 5-4. This will be a highly touted rematch and will be significant in each team’s non-conference resume at the end of the season.
Puck drop will be at 4 p.m.
