Quick Recap: Women’s Hockey vs. Neumann University

The opening frame ended in a scoreless tie but the Knights were lucky and had to be happy with that result. They let up 23 shots and only registered three. They also took two penalties that the coaching staff couldn’t have been happy with. Justina Mayr played fantastic once again in the first to keep the Lakers scoreless.

Oswego State broke through twice in the second period, once with the man advantage. Brianna Rice opened the scoring on a wrap around at the 10:52 mark. Rachel Lenard was given an assist on the goal.

The second goal came on the power play as the first unit got the job done. Alyssa Brockmann took a point shot from the top of the umbrella and with bodies in front the puck found twine. Lizzy Marks got the final piece of it to direct it in. Brianna Rice was credited with the secondary assist, her second point of the game.

All the scoring was done in the second as nobody could find the back of the net in the third. Tori Trovato stopped 15 shots in the third to preserve the shutout. The Lakers took two penalties in this frame but killed them both and almost converted on a shorthanded chance.

With this win the Lakers have now won five straight contests and are 7-2-2 on the year.
