The Oswego State Lakers defeated the SUNY Fredonia Blue Devils Friday night, 3-2, at the Marano Campus Center.
The game started off very sloppy, with no team lighting the lamp and both teams heading to the second period scoreless.
Oswego scored first when Shawn Hulshof sniped a puck right past Fredonia goalie Eric Bogart from the left face off circle and drilled his fifth goal of the season.
Fredonia would answer, however, and not only tie the game, but take the lead heading into the third. Ryan Wilkinson played the puck off the boards from behind the net and found Hunter Long who buried the puck from the high slot. Bobby Polachek would put back his own rebound and give his team a lead.
In the early moments of the third period Brandon Adams found Stephen Johnson who sniped a puck straight-on and beat Eric Bogart to tie the game.
Alex Botten pushed in the game-winning goal 40 seconds into overtime on a put-back to defeat Eric Bogart.
The Lakers will now prepare for the Pathfinder Classic, which they host in the first few days of 2016. They will play Castleton State college on Friday, and the winner of Adrian/Williams on Saturday, if they win.
