Bieber gives audiences glimpse into his ‘Purpose’

Justin Bieber, making girls faint since 1994.

It all really started with the launch of his musical career in 2009 with his ever-famous album “My World.” He was the heartache of the century and made his mark with several hit singles in the pop genre, like “Baby,” “Somebody to Love” and “Never Say Never.”

He even hit us with a Christmas album. He truly was a charmer.
Unfortunately, growing up in the spotlight can take its toll on some teenage celebrities.

From getting a DUI to stealing a pet monkey, Bieber definitely had his troubles along the way. But in the past year, he’s made a comeback in the music industry and in the eyes of the general public.

Bieber put out an apology video this year. He proclaimed his new outlook on life, which is to be kind and to be proud of the person he wants to be. The name of his newest album itself says it all: “Purpose.” Bieber has a purpose and it is to make music.

He made an insanely smart move working with Skrillex and Diplo creating the hit song “Where Are U Now,” which is on the “Purpose” album. The element of electro works in Bieber’s favor and became a summer hit. When Bieber strays from this style, he does not showcase his ever improving talents.

Some may say this is Justin Bieber’s redemption album. Bieber sets the stage with the opener “Mark My Words.” He demonstrates his creative vocals in the background and lets his emotions come through more, rather than always showing off his typical swagger. Then he rolls into the song “I’ll Show You.” He sings about his life being a movie that everyone’s watching. He sings softly and works in the electro music once again. This song exemplifies the type of person he aspires to be in life and that he actually wants to “show” us.

Your foot won’t stop tapping when “What Do You Mean” comes on. Obviously, it seems to be a volatile single aimed toward Selena Gomez. Again, Bieber shows his softer side with the popular track “Sorry.” Although it is obvious with its meaning, it also a clever way to expose himself as the sensitive guy who wants to make things better, but also put things in the past, whether he’s directing it toward Selena or his fans. However, it’s okay to tell someone how you really feel. Which is exactly what Bieber did in his song “Love Yourself.” Let’s be honest, telling someone to love themself is another way to call someone out on their insecurities. Bieber is basically telling Gomez to find her self worth.

The rest of the album takes a sleepy turn, which isn’t terrible and is a nice change of pace for Bieber in the R&B world. He polishes off the album with an acoustic version of “What Do You Mean.”

Bieber has yet again nailed the acoustic subgenre. This acoustic track may be better than his “Believe Acoustic” album.

All in all, “Purpose” is without a doubt the album you should play on your way home for the holidays. Good job, Bieber, for making the biggest comeback since Britney Spears in 2011.
