After a 4-1 loss yesterday the Oswego State Lakers will hit the road to take on the Utica College Pioneers at 3 p.m. at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.

Yesterday Morgan Reed put up four goals and beat the Lakers basically by herself. She will be all over the offensive zone again tonight and if the Lakers want to win they will have to compose a way to be able to contain the first line of Utica.

The Lakers will need to create better scoring chances. They led in shots at the end of the game but a majority of their shots on net weren’t quality chances. Chances in the slot were rare but shots from easy angles and far out were a regular staple in this game.

The Lakers may switch goalies today. Trovato hasn’t sat since the opener and she didn’t play her best hockey. She got beat five hole once and just seemed off. A goalie switch may be the best bet for the Lakers and Trovato down the road. Keira Goin looked sharp yesterday and stopped 29 of 30 shots. Look for her to start again today in net.

Oswego State: Lizzy Marks

The senior was a -2 yesterday in their 4-1 defeat. Marks needs to improve her defensive side of the game if the Lakers want to win this year. She’s a defensive minded player and a staple for the Lakers. Look for her to be extra motivated and control the first line of the Pioneers.

Utica College: Morgan Reed

Both games this weekend she was our player to watch and it’s well deserved. Her four goals, that matched her goal total on the year, helped drown the Lakers and she’s going to be creating chances all day again. Look for her to put up two points in today’s game.

Game Prediciton

Both teams are at a turning point in the season here. The Pioneers are playing well again and they are cemeting themselves as a force in the ECAC West. The Lakers however, are a team that is underpreforming and have to get going here soon before it’s too late. Today’s game will be gritty and it may come down to a last minute goal.
