Oswego State men’s hockey lost to SUNY Potsdam 4-1 for their second consecutive loss and third on the season. Potsdam remains undefeated and improves to 6-0-0 as the Lakers fall to 1-3-1, with both records the same in SUNYAC play.
Potsdam was able to get four goals off of nine Oswego penalties for the Lakers, as the Lakers did not help their cause with so many penalties on the night. Potsdam also had six penalties, too.
Andrew Barton scored the lone go for the Lakers, when he pushed one past Bears’ goalie Brendan McMenim in the third period near a cluttered crease.
Justin Gilbert struggled in his first regular season start of the night, giving up three goals before being pulled for Adrian Ignagni.
Although they lost by the number of goals, Oswego outshot Potsdam 38 -21.
The Lakers will most likely fall out of both USCHO.com and d3hockey.com’s top-15 rankings this week when rankings are released early either Monday or Tuesday.
Oswego will return to the Marano Campus Center Ice Arena next Friday at 7 p.m. against SUNY Morrisville, looking to climb back in the rankings both in the nationally and in the SUNYAC.
