Lakers fall to Plattsburgh in Whiteout

The SUNY Plattsburgh Cardinals defeated the Oswego State Lakers Friday night at the Marano Campus Center in the annual Whiteout game 5-4. The Cardinals advance to 4-0-0 (3-0-0) and the Lakers fall to 1-2-1 (1-2-1).

Pat Egan scored the game-wining goal with 1:55 left in overtime to make that three consecutive games in which the Cardinals have not lost at Oswego.

The Lakers had two separate two-goal leads in the game, 2-0 and 4-2, but could not hold of the soaring Cardinals.

The forwards second line of the Lakers shone Friday night with Kenny Neil, Alex Botten and Matt Galati all contributing significantly to the four goals scored by Oswego State.

Junior goalie Matt Zawadzki struggled, giving up five goals on 25 shots en route to the second loss of the season for the Lakers.

The Lakers return to their home ice again Saturday night as they face off against SUNY Potsdam at 7 p.m.
