Falling in love with October easy to do

October is the best month of the year.

For some of us sweaty people, October is a relief. After having to worry from May to September about if we may have to change our T-shirts when we step outside, the change is nice.

The great thing about October is that there is a varying climate, which allows for a wide range of clothing options. At most times throughout the month, shorts and sweatshirts can coexist. The best part about this, however, is flannels and just how great they are. If you don’t want to worry about being too warm with a sweatshirt, or too cold with just a T-shirt, flannels are a good alternative for you.

The next great thing about the month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness. The whole month is filled with walks, inspirational stories and an excuse for us guys that love pink to wear it whenever we want (especially at athletic events).

In sports entertainment purposes, October is also among the elite. Whether you are a fan of baseball and are enjoying the MLB playoffs, or a fan of football, this month is for you. For football lovers like myself, we get two full days of strictly football starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday with College GameDay and ending past 11 p.m. on Sunday with Sunday Night Football.

Locally, us Lakers have the whole month to anticipate for “cawlidge hawkey”. The men’s team is a perennial top-10 team in Div. III under head coach Ed Gosek and the women’s team is now on the brink of being one of the elite teams in the nation as well. While we only get to see them play a game or two in the actual month of October, It is the anticipation and the expectation of watching our teams play in the Marano Campus Center Ice Arena.

Did I mention how Halloween is the best holiday because you can go out and enjoy your weekend as someone else? This is an accepted norm and is an amazing way for people to show their creativity.

Also, you are allowed one free pass to post a picture of yourself with your significant other apple-picking on social media. You know you want to do it, so just do it.

Last but not least… Apple cider donuts and unlimited apple cider in the dining halls!
