“ I am a Math Faculty member here at Oswego State. I also run the First Year Residential Program for Johnson Hall, which is the only all-freshman residence hall on campus. So I work a lot with freshmen, and try to help them transition to the college experience. And the third aspect of my job is that I run the English Language Conversation Partner Program, which is tailored to match international students with native English speakers so that they can get practice with their conversational English skills.
I’ve been here for about 17 years, and I started out just teaching math part-time, and then I gradually worked into full-time, and it was three years ago that I added my responsibilities with Johnson and the Conversation Partner Program. So I really love working with students, and I like to see students who want to become teachers in my math classes. They become able to explain concepts that maybe they’ve been able to do before, but they really don’t know how to explain it. So that’s exciting, and I love working with the freshmen in Johnson, and helping them be able to succeed in college.”
“Probably the most rewarding part of my job is that I get to interact with the students on a regular basis.”
