Laker Gameday Preview: Feb. 3 v. SUNY Geneseo

The Oswego State women’s basketball team will be taking on the Knights of SUNY Geneseo on Tuesday night.

The Lakers head into this game on a three-game skid and with a record of 5-12, 3-7 in the SUNYAC.

The Knights head into this game with a 13-4 record, 9-1 in the SUNYAC. They are on a seven-game winning streak. Head coach Scott Hemer is the winnigest coach in SUNY Geneseo history with a record of 119-71.

The Knights have beaten Oswego State in three of the last four meetings between the two teams, including a 83-58 victory at Max Ziel Gymnasium last season.

SUNY Geneseo is first in the SUNYAC in points allowed per game with 54.2. The Lakers and Knights are close in points scored per game averaging 64.7 and 64.9 respectively.

The leading scorer coming into the game for the Knights is Shannon McGinnis who is fourth in the SUNYAC averaging 15.0 points per game and leads the SUNYAC with 10 rebounds per game. In the last meeting between the two teams McGinnis had 24 points and 12 rebounds.

Junior Heather Hebert comes into the game averaging 12.8 points per game and 7.9 rebounds per game to lead Oswego State.

Tip-off for the game is set for 7:30 p.m in Max Ziel Gymnasium. The Lakers are 2-6 at home this season, while Geneseo has a 4-2 road record.
