Oswego State campus experiences power outage early Thursday morning
The Oswego State campus lost power Thursday morning at approximately 9 a.m.
According to the Office of Public Affairs, the outage was not the fault of the university or the university’s equipment, but through problems from the Varick Hydro Electric Facility in the city of Oswego.
“We’ve had similar problems before,” said Public Affairs Director Julie Blissert, who also acknowledged that a campus-wide power failure doesn’t happen very frequently. It’s occurred only a handful of times in the last few years.
According to National Grid, three local customers, including the campus, were affected by the outage. Maintenance on the network between the substation and the college area caused the outage.
Power was restored completely within a half hour to 45 minutes to local and campus residents.
