Oswego State employee struck

A car struck an Oswego State employee on State Route 104W at Sheldon Ave. on Oct. 20.

Director of General Education Christopher LaLonde of Oswego, was walking his dog shortly after 7 p.m. when he was struck by a 2001 Saturn sedan while crossing the Route 104.

LaLonde is also the director of literary studies, American studies and IPAC at Oswego State.

The sedan was driven by 34-year-old Jason Fredette of Oswego.

The Oswego City Fire Department responded to the accident. LaLonde had several broken bones and was transported to a Syracuse area hospital by helicopter. He was said to be stable at the hospital the following day.

Fredette has not been issued any tickets and city police said that poor visibility because of the dark and rain was a contributing factor.
