Watching the “Occupy” protests, it seems as if we have been transported back to the 1960’s. The crowd resembles Woodstock in 1969 with all the sex and drugs, but minus the rock and roll. They have resurrected the same style of clothes, hair and anti-American rhetoric reminiscent of that era.
The media have compared the two and rightly so. It is the continuation of what was started in the 60s and is now being carried out by those who have been brainwashed by our education system.
The radicals of the sixties, from the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) and the Weather Underground to the Black Panthers and other such groups, who were responsible for creating chaos and riots, are now professors in some top-name universities, and are indoctrinating the youth. William Ayres, one of the founders of the Weather Underground, and a self proclaimed home grown domestic terrorist, who placed a bomb in the Pentagon, is a professor for childhood education at the University of Chicago.
Ayres’s wife, Bernadine Rae Dohrn, called for a revolution in the 60s by praising the Manson family. The woman who once said, “bring the revolution home, kill your parents” is also part of the education system. She is a professor in the Children’s and Justice Center at Northwestern University.
Then there is Susan Rosenberg. She was a member of the Weather Underground, the Black Liberation Army, and the Manson Family. She conspired to kill cops, blow-up buildings and staged an armed robbery of a Brinks truck. She was sentenced to 58 years in prison before Bill Clinton pardoned her. Hamilton College later offered her a teaching position; after all, she did receive a master’s degree in writing from a correspondence course while doing time. The list goes on.
It’s no wonder that today’s college protesters don’t have a clue as to what they are protesting. They claim that they are a leaderless group; however they do have leadership, in the form of radicals who want to finish what they started. It’s a generation of thoughtless protest carried out on the orders of burned-out old leftists trying to live vicariously.
Those who have wanted to overthrow the capitalist system may feel that this is their only chance. After all, they’re over the hill and an impressionable, blanked-out generation only comes along–well every once in a generation.
However, the media is in love with the protests. Donny Deutsch, advertising executive and media personality called for a new Kent State moment on the “Morning Joe” show, clarifying he wasn’t calling for someone to be killed.
The whole movement is a media creation, fed more by airtime than by ideals. It lives on hype, but is severely allergic to substance.
If this is an attempt to bring back the riots of 1968, today’s protesters are targeting the wrong entity. The Chicago Riots of 1968 were against the Democratic party and the target of the riot was the Democratic National Convention. At the time, Lyndon B. Johnson was president and the creator of the “Great Society,” which was a cradle-to-grave welfare, a government-controlled socialism-lite program. This wasn’t the totalitarian utopian government they had wanted, so they went after the Democrats in office. Coming off of an intense campaign season with the nation facing civil unrest, the youth riots escalated. There were arrests, cries of police brutality, vandalism, fires, bombs and bloodshed. At that time, the majority of the American people had had enough and spoke out by electing Richard Nixon, a Republican for president.
Some have tried to distance themselves; however, David Axelrod, Nancy Pelosi, and others are encouraging Obama to align himself with the Occupy crowd. He has been giving praise and a voice to those protesting Wall Street, which in itself is ironic. The majority of his campaign funding in 2008 was from Wall Street. In the words of Obama’s good friend and former Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste — and what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things that you didn’t think you could do before.”
Could this be why those who want to destroy capitalism are encouraging violence if necessary to have their demands met? After all, it is for the greater good, they will tell you. Will the Democratic National Convention to be held in Charlotte, N.C., Sept. 3rd thru 6th, 2012 hold the same fate as the 1968 convention?

You are obviously clueless as to both the nature and purpose of the OWS movement.
We are aware that Obama is bought out by bankers, that’s why we are occupying instead of working for his next farce of a campaign.
Both political parties have had their hands in creating the rampant corruption of our political process, and the financial crisis.
The ones who want to “Destroy capitalism” are the bankers who are bankrupting our nation, running a giant scam that ruins small businesses, homeowners, and families, and rigging the “free market” so they get all the gains, but don’t get punished when they make bad decisions.

Actually go to a protest in your local area and see first hand this is nothing like the 60s. But even so, it’s not the 50s anymore. Do you think anyone honestly cares how people dress or if they smoke a little weed?
I go to the protests dressed in business casual, as do others. I have a job and support this, as do others. I am part of this “53%” and I support this because I watched my taxes go to pay off a bunch of crooks on Wall Street and 10 years of bipartisan war in the Middle East.
I go because my friends, hard workers, did what their parents told them, went to school, got degrees, and now the most work they can find is in the food service industry — not nearly enough to pay back their loans.
The capitalist system has already been overthrown and replaced with an oligarchy sucking off the tit of the taxpayer.
Obama and his crony cabinet will NOT be voted for by a large number of OWS protesters. And instead of fighting us, please join us and remind us that the Democrats aren’t the answer either.
Also, sense when is “love for the protests” shown by a corporate media that spins the movement to be “the tea party of the left” and full of “dirty hippies with no jobs”. Obviously, they have you convinced they are something they aren’t.
The blatant bias of this article is astounding. This is one of the shoddiest pieces of journalism I have ever read, and that’s really a remarkable statement.
Start by getting your facts straight:
– It is spelled William Ayers, not William Ayres.
– William Ayers never taught at University of Chicago as you claim. He taught at the University of Illinois in Chicago. There is an enormous difference between these two institutions.
– Not only did you have the wrong name and institution, but you overlooked the fact that he is now retired. Bill Ayers WAS a professor of childhood education.
– His wife’s name is Bernardine Dohrn, not Bernadine Dohrn. You omitted the second “r.”
– You attributed the “kill your parents” quote to Dohrn. It was Ayers who said it, not Dohrn.
– “It’s a generation of thoughtless protest carried out on the orders of burned-out old leftists trying to live vicariously.” Live vicariously through what? You can’t “live vicariously”. In and of itself, that phrase is meaningless. You must live vicariously through something or someone else.
Since you seem to have no grasp of basic journalistic protocol, I’ll offer my advice that it is generally a good idea to check one’s article for factual accuracy and typos before publishing it.
Next, learn to differentiate proximate and root causes. SDS, WU, and the Black Panthers were no more responsible for “chaos and riots” than the police officers who overstepped their duties and impeded the protesters’ rights to peaceably assemble. Instances of violence such as those must inherently implicate both parties to some extent.

You want ideals? The goal of the movement is to subordinate the artificial corporate entity to the constitutional sovereignty of the people.
You want substance? Here are just a few of the initial measures that nearly all Occupy protesters agree to:
