Bookstore offers rentals to students

The campus bookstore is now offering Oswego State students the option of renting their textbooks for the semester.

College Book Store Director Susan Raby said the renting of textbooks began as a trial period the Fall semester and was extended following positive results.

Not only will the option of renting books be available to students during the spring and fall semesters, but it will also be available to students during summer and winter sessions. This extends opportunities for students to save money on their expensive textbook purchases.

The rental program is flexible with how long students wish to rent books. However, students mustcommit to how long they plan on keeping the rental prior to receiving the textbook; rental extensions are available.

"What’s great is that you can set your terms," Raby said. "If you say you don’t want to buy a book, it gets down to the fact that you can rent it for a short period of time."

Books received by students are generally used, but are in good condition. If a student receives a textbook that is damaged, they have the option of getting a replacement copy, free of charge. Students also have the option of paying for the book if they decide to.

Students will be fined if they do not return their textbooks by the assigned deadline.

Positive feedback has encouraged the book store to continue the program for the foreseable future.
