"In "You Again," Kristen Bell ("Veronica Mars") plays Marni, an executive at a public relations firm who comes home to a real life nightmare: her brother Will (James Wolk, "Lone Star") is marrying her high school rival, Joanne (Odette Yustman,"Cloverfield").
"Unbeknownst to Will, his fiancé was the cause of Marni’s torment and embarrassment throughout high school. Marni, now years later, seeks to destroy the angelic image that Joanne has fronted. With this exposure, Marni hopes to terminate the looming marriage.
"Also invited to this wedding is Joanne’s aunt, Romona (Sigourney Weaver, "Avatar"),who, coincidently, was a rival with Marni’s mother Gail (Jamie Lee Curtis, "Freaky Friday"), in high school.
"This revelation prevents Gail from stopping her daughter’s sabotage of her brother’s big day.
"This comedy has an interesting twist on high school stereotypes, and depicts a reality in which some people never change. But the film also points out that people should hold positive views of themselves. This encouraging message, and the surprisingly impressive lineup of characters, makes the story a gem.
"The story focuses on the importance of being the bigger person, no matter what happened in the past. The plot is a refreshing twist on the girl-on-girl clash of personalities, keeping the movie relatable and hilariously entertaining.
"Bell delivers a strong performance alongside film favorites Curtis and Weaver. "You Again" keeps the audience engaged from scene-to-scene to see what outrageous prank or sneaky ploy will be executed next.
