In the outdoor soccer league co-ed recreational division, The Fat and the Furious trumped Oswego Odyssey, 5-3. Scoring four of the five goals, MVP Nick Blakesless helped bring the team’s overall record to 4-1. Haters Gonna Hate also secured a win, scoring a single goal on The Plastics, for a 1-0 triumph.
In the co-ed competitive division, Ball Busters came out on top, winning 3-0 to Half Chubs.
The men’s recreational division showed some serious skills from the Cosby Kids and the Foot Fairies. The Cosby Kids overcame #ABunchOfLosers, 7-0, owing much of their success to Brian Chojnacki, who scored four of the seven goals. Their winning ways continued with a 3-0 victory against the Foot Fairies, though this time Kevin Kania stepped up, scoring all three goals. The Cosby Kids are 5-1-0, making them a tough competitor in the division. The Foot Fairies came back to stomp Tau Kappa Epsilon, 5-0. Colin Lucey scored three of the five goals.
In the men’s competitive division, Justin Roorda scored four goals for Gary’s Pub FC, winning 6-3 against Steve. In another high scoring game Blood, Sweat and Beers won, 6-0, against Bloodbath and Beyond.
Week three of softball brought a close scoring game between @Mufasabros and the Rolltiders, with the Rolltiders taking the game, 6-5. After a close few innings, the Rolltiders came back in the 5th inning with a game-winning hit by Julie Lundgren. In a not so nerve-wracking game, Dirty Mike and the Boys won 11-0 against Paddy Murphy. Dirty Mike and the Boys went on to beat Scared Hitless, 20-13, starting the game with a triple play in the first inning.
Though Sons of Pitches suffered a 14-2 loss to the Green Team, Brendon Keogh took one for the team, as he dove into the outfield for Sons of Pitches’ first out. Fast forwarding to the bottom of the second, Nate Krocke smashed a two-run home run.
Though Ay Papi Chulos won by forfeit, the team put in significant work, with Eric Smith scoring runs in the top of the third and fifth.
During beach volleyball’s semifinals, Team Shazam and Practice Safe Sets battled for a spot in the championship game. Practice Safe Sets won, 3-0, securing their spot in Sunday’s championship.
Beach volleyball’s championship game brought Bumpin Uglies and Practice Safe Sets face-to-face. Both teams were 4-0 in the regular season and 2-0 in the playoffs, making the championship anyone’s game. Practice Safe Sets took the match with a score of 21-18 in the third match, crowning them beach volleyball’s intramural champions.
Kibbles and Vic started off the second weekend of flag football with a 32-8 win against Vick’s Pond, while Delta Kappa Kappa continued with their high scores, crushing The 315 by a score of 26-7.
The HELLHOUNDS shut out the Dutchmasters, 24-0. Necessary Roughness and Delta Kappa Kappa kept the trend going, scoring 54 and 46 against Lady Liberty and Good Game respectively.
Sunday’s games brought a nail biter between Haters Gonna Hate and the Dutchmasters, ending the game with a close 28-27 score. HELLHOUNDS closed out the weekend with their second win, a 38-0 beatdown of On Like Ndamukong.
Oswego State’s first O-Mazing Race took place Wednesday, Sept. 26, bringing out 60 participants for nine challenges across campus.
Teams of two competed in mental and physical challenges involving mud pits, obstacles, Lee Hall pool and brain teasers. Teams earned points for each challenge completed with the top three teams receiving prices.
In the open division, Michelle Farino and Benjamin Massarini earned 211.5 points for team Fuerza, winning $250 gift certificates at Murdock’s Bikes. Coming in a close second, Matthew McGee and Donny Mongeon received 210 points securing free passes, rentals and lessons for four friends at The Wall. Bobby Drexel and DJ Mazzoni on Team Dobby and BJ took third with 185 points, winning free kayak rentals.
In the women’s division, Megan Murphy and Barb Schreibel earned the top score of 196 for team Biff Waffs 4 Lyfe. Coming in second, team TTB players Sammy Bielli and Alexa Vadala attained 161 points. Amanda Hagen and Nicole Montana’s team Victorious Secret put up a good fight with 141 points for third place. All six winners received their respective prizes for the O-Mazing Race.
